I want to introduce you to ReJAVAnate reusable bag program because it is a really good story!
They take burlap from coffee roasters that would be otherwise sent to landfill, work with The ARC which serves individuals with developmental disabilities to hand make the bags, and sell them to individuals and organizations who want to make a statement about reducing paper and plastic bag consumption.
The bags can be custom printed and make a good statement for organizations that have or want to make a commitment to the environment.
Contact them about their wholesale program by emailing ReJavanate@Renovos.com or filling out the form on their Contact Page.
Recycled Packaging:
They Renovos company “shamelessly” uses recycled packaging. When you receive your shopping bag it will be packaged in an “already used” box. They have this cute stamp on the bottom of the box which reads, “Shamelessly using recycled packaging”. Such a great idea.
Did you know?
- Coffee is the second largest commodity in the world
- 800,000 tons of burlap are put into landfills every year
- The ARC helps 140,000 people find housing and employment
- US consumes over 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps
- 14 million trees were cut to produce 10 billion paper bags for grocery stores in the US
These bags address three important issues:
1) They reduce a significant source of landfill waste
2) They provide jobs to those that often have difficulty finding jobs
3) They provide a good way to reduce our paper and plastic bag consumption
What is The ARC?
The Arc is the world’s largest community based organization of and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It provides an array of services and support for families and individuals and includes over 140,000 members affiliated through more than 850 state and local chapters across the nation. The Arc is devoted to promoting and improving supports and services for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

I visited the following two sites:rejavanate.com and ecostreet.com. I like the way that ecostreet is an ongoing site coming up with green alternatives that we all can make with simple how to do it. I think they can make a great difference. The rejavate site concentrates on
1). They reduce a significant source of landfill waste
2). They provide jobs to those that often have difficulty finding jobs
3). They provide a good way to reduce our paper and plastic bag consumption
Each site is devoted to helping us help our planet.
What a great site…they’re doing good work.
I totally loved buygreen.com, unfortunately the hammock that I am drooling over is backordered.
I also checked out rejavanate.com. I thought the site was easy to use. I am putting that one in my bookmarks.
I visited http://www.buygreen.com/ and http://rejavanate.com/
I think Javanate is a great program because it provides jobs and helps eliminate excessive use of paper and plastic bags.
Visited Rejavanate & Buy Green sites. What a great program. I had no idea over 800’000 tons of burlap are put into landfills every year! I love that the program not only recycles and reuses, but it also addresses other civic responsibilities.
gkstratos@ yahoo.com
tis sounds like a really inovative idea
love the site and linked sites, and I do not care that people recycle by resusing boxes or packaging. I reuse packing when I sent family packages and ebay for my hubs stuff. It isd silly when people want new packing just to throw it away- I reuse it till its dead. Neat ideas on here. I love the buygreensite
Great website. Thanks for the chance.
I bookmarked the sites to look at later, I have a crying child in my arms right now and can’t really concentrate:)
I subscribed to your blog.
what great information. I did not know that
US consumes over 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps from the http://rejavanate.com/ site
and from the http://www.buygreen.com/ site found some great bottles. Thank you for having this!
I visited buygreen.com. It’s always nice to add another green shopping site to my list.
I love that so many companies now are making reusable bags, so we can reduce the number of plastic bags we send to landfills. The rejavanate bags do double duty since they are made from burlap that would also be sent to landfills!
I visited the Arc’s website; I used to donate household items to one of their thrift stores when we lived in Oregon. It was good to reaquaint myself with the program. I also visited the EcoStreet site–I loved the breastfeeding article.
I’m really impressed with the Rejavanate program–I had no clue that coffee consumption was that high, or that burlap bags contribute so much to landfills. I’ve started using reusable bags for my shopping–I’d love to have some more. Especially some that would spark questions like these would.
I visited buygreen and ecostreet – and I’m really impressed that the rejavanate program not only deals with the bag problem but also helps people find employment and housing. Thanks for the giveaway!
Wonderful site! I am trying hard to use reusable bags all the time!
I visited rejavanate (clever name) and ecostreet. Their bags sound great….sturdy & durable. I also liked reading about the environmentally friendly wedding on ecostreet
i visited the arc ad buy green. they are both very helpful!
I visited all the sites — Rejavanate is a plus… I have carried and used reuseable bags with me since 1974 (some are pathetically old and I could use some new ones!!!). How people stared at me as I loaded groceries into my cloth bags when the Reagan years came in and the concepts of reuse, recycle, and reduce became unpopular… I am so glad to see the circle has come around again. Too bad it takes a sick economy to get people to realize how much money can be saved by reusing, as well as how good it is for our Mother Earth. Creating jobs and helping with housing are creditable goals, too. We also reuse burlap sacks in the garden, makes great covers for winter plants, and buried under the top soil, helps cut down on weeds, as well as biodegradable…
— BuyGreen has a nifty sippy stainless cup I might get for my new grandbaby coming in November… and I shall email the diaper bag and pod to my son and daughter in law to see if they are interested. Just bought them a set of BumGenius from Green Planet Baby.com to avoid the dreaded disposables; wish they had them in my day!!! I am not a fan of SIGG cups, though, concept is good, but we use no aluminum for a plethora of reasons. while they recycle aluminum, IMHO, it is just not safe for cooking or onsumption of foods or beverages…
—The Arc is a commendable cause, but we have our own charities we support annually that depend upon our support. Best of luck to them in their work.
– Ecostreet has a link to Salt Lamps, which Ive been curious to try… and some good articles I shall save for later.
–And Lavender from Limauge is awesome stuff!! Highly recommend linking to them, too!
Onward and Upward!
I went to Eco-Street and Buy Green. The blog on Eco-street is great and I will have to start checking it regularly. The writer is great!! Buy Green is a great resource. I use another site like it, but this will be great for comparing prices! Thanks!
I visited buygreen.com and ecostreet.com. I think that the ReJavanate program is awesome because they save on plastic and paper bags, eliminate landfill waste, and they give people jobs! What could be better than that?!?
I also subscribed to your newsletter.
And I blogged about the contest! =)
I visited ecostreet and rejavanate (cute name btw!). I think it’s awsome! Love the repurposing going on, not to mention the jobs and the resulting landfill non-usage for the bags. Tremendous efforts going on there. More businesses should use them as a model. We really need to work together people! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the contest.

I just checked out all the sites and was very impressed with them all. Rejavanate is doing a wonderful job and to take bags that would have been thrown away and to make wonderful bags out of them is a great idea and helps stop wasteful land fill.
Thank you for sponsoring the giveaway. I visited buygreen.com and ecostreet.com. Wonderful ideas everyone can use to make our world better for our grandchildren.
I knew that coffee was big business, but I never stopped to think about all those burlap sacks. Turning them into green bags is a great, practical idea.
I visited ecostreet.com and buygreen.com. I like that they provide jobs to those that often have difficulty finding jobs.
I visited http://www.buygreen.com/ & http://rejavanate.com/ I found both easy to navigate and am bookmarking them for future use =) As to the Javanate program, I’m all for it. I love when people figure out ways to not only reduce the strain on the environment, but figure out how to do something useful with their ideas. I also added Shopping Gems to my RSS feed, thanks for offering this and opening my eyes to a new green venture =)
i visited two. i love the zero waste ideal for renovos and that rejavanate is helping people with housing and employment. so cool!
I vivisted all of the sites. I think it is a fabulous idea and concept to help one another out. To make the world a better place. By coffee……LOve it!
I can’t get enough of this idea. It’s about time we realize what an impact we can have on society just by making new things out of the old. I’ve visited all of the sites and I think this is a great company and I hope they continue to empower people to make change. Thanks for the great contest!
Thank you so much for this! Sure, giveaways are great but when those giveaways are so much more than just a PRODUCT, it’s wonderful!
I visited the sires and am so impressed. Lots of companies have jumped on the recycling bag bandwagon as though it wee a fashion statement. REJAVANATE is making a statement too: what a wonderful thing, to help on another and to stop being so wasteful.
I visited the Rejavanate and ecostreet sites. This is a great idea. It helps the environment and the employees. Awesome ideas.
I visited rajavante.com, ecostreet.com, and buygreen.com. I did not like ecostreet much at all. I liked rejavanate-clever idea to recycle burlap into sturdy bags. I liked the idea of not just recycling but providing jobs too. buygreen.com had some interesting info too.
I visited the sites! I know some people are skeptical of the effects that one person can have on the environment, but when companies like this are working to reduce waste and encourage others to do the same, I believe we’ll see the difference!
Thanks for the giveaway!

I visited the first three. I love the concept and the prices aren’t too bad either. Really like the look of the burlap too.
I visited the first two sites – ecogreen.com & rejavanate. com. These bags are a GREAT idea. I can’t believe how much burlap ends up in landfills. This world is in desperate need of more sack races!
I like the buygreen site. I’d like to try the Save the Sea line of cleaning products and EcoStreet has a book on every day tips for recycling that I’d get for my son (the one by Nicky Scott). I had no idea the burlap coffee bags were an environmental issue. Thanks!
I visited http://www.buygreen.com/ and http://rejavanate.com/. I didn’t know that so much burlap was put into landfills! I love the burlap bags that my Basmati rice comes in (from Costco) and love to reuse those bags. I love these bags and that they are made from burlap coffee bags. I think it’s a great program – this is a good way to get awareness, too!
Lindsey
I visited http://www.buygreen.com and rejavanate.com. I like the coffee bags and the rice bags.

I went to all the sites, they are all good. I love “green” sites! I have been into the environment since middle school & love that it is becoming popular now!
I think this program is amazing, so many good things coming from it & the bags are very cool.
first I subscribe through my google rss.
I visited 4 of the sites listed…cool reuse and job program. This company is helping our environment as well as individuals who may not know what work is or have this opportunity…great company.
great green site/company. i bookmarked it for more reading. I also subscribed via google reader. Great giveaway! I hope i’m the lucky winner
visited the 1st 2 websites, and i love the program. i used to work in a coffee shop and would take the coffee sacks to use at home or even as decorations, like we did in the store. bags is a great idea – they’re such sturdy material!
I popped by the middle three sites and am excited to see that http://rejavanate.com/ aims to reuse something that might really otherwise get trashed. Also, the bags are truly useful!
And I like how these two sites:
http://www.ecostreet.com/
http://www.renovos.com/
aim to raise public consciousness of different issues affecting our environment, and tries to provide avenues for people to be involved and educate themselves.
Thanks for the information and for the fun giveaway!
I visited the buy green site. They concentrate on offering environmentally friendly products for business and consumers. I also visited the Rejavanate site and learned that Coffee is the second largest commodity in the world. I also learned Rejavanate bags help the environment by reducing a significant source of landfill waste-plastic bags. Great giveaway, thanks!
Blogged ya:

I also subscribed via RSS (Bloglines) to your site. Thanks for the great giveaway!
WOW! This whole Refavanate program is win-win-win! Keeping plastic bags out of landfills helps the environment. I LOVE that they work in tandem with the ARC to give jobs to people who may otherwise be overlooked. (As a Special Ed teacher, this warms my heart.) What a great giveaway! Thanks!

I visited buygreen and the ARC. My dad actually used to be an administrator for a local ARC program. Rejavanate is a fantastic Idea. We should do everything we can to reduce waste and conserve energy.

I want to help save the environment, one bag at a time. Please enter me in the free bag giveaway.
Great for green, I just recently purchased 2 canvas bags @ Walgreens,,, I could really use 3-4 more big ones…
Thanks for introducing me to EcoStreet. They even have ethical jobs!
I like how rejavanate’s bags reduce landfill waste and paper/plastic bag consumption
I visited ecostreet and, as a mom, enjoyed reading the article about breastfeeding. As the author says, “Breastfeeding is the most environmentally friendly way to feed your baby” I visited the Arc and was inspired by their mission statement to help people with disabilities. Great web resources, thanks! Have a lovely week!
I visited bugreen.com and was suprised by the many green products they had, i had know idea that trash bags could be harmful to the enviroment so ws lucky to find some enviromentaly friendly one on this site!
I put a link on my blog.

i like that they’ve made companies be more aware of how they deal with their waste and what great ideas for recycling.
I visited Javanate and renovos.com. I think the idea of helping businesses to reduce their waste is great–anything on such a large scale can have a great impact!
I also subscribed to your feed—this is a neat site and I would love to win these bags!
wow i’m glad i came to this site i didn’t know all of that i had NO idea wow that’s crazy, and i really wouldn’t mind winning those pretty bags
i subscribed to your site btw
I visited the ecostreet and thearc sites – TheARC site meant alot because I work at a MRDD sheltered workshop and know how important it is for everyone regardless of mental abilty to have a fulfilling life.
There are so many things I’ve never thought about like what happens to the coffee sacks!
I checked out buygreen.com and rejavanate.com. I like that the Buy Green site is divided by home, work, leisure. And I did NOT know that coffee is the second largest commodity in the world, but now I know!
It’s tough to teach an old dog new tricks, however I’m working hard on the whole green thing. I can say with confidence, I have more recycle each week than any of my neighbors. I shock the grocery store folks when I have an assortment of my own bags and if per chance I forget my bags I say “no bags please” You should see the looks I get on that one LOL.
I’d love win one of these.
checked the sites and they even talked about reducing landfill. I’m trying real hard to go green. I use my tote bags when I shop
I visited buygreen.com and ecostreet.com – both very interesting sites. They both gave me some good ideas on how to improve being green.
